SPECIAL EVENTS
Special Events are an important part of our financial picture, as well as a unifying force for our volunteers, our supporting churches, and our board and staff. Throughout the year, we will be promoting the following special events. As specific details become available, links will appear for further information.
Walk For Life • This is our second major fundraising effort of the year. It takes place in the fall and is a grassroots-no-excuses-everyone-can-participate kind of event. Walkers get a Sponsor Pledge Sheet and ask their friends, family, and co-workers to make a pledge to sponsor them for participating in our walk. • It is an "Event Walk" - not a per-mile marathon. Each walker chooses the distance that is comfortable for them. Some do one lap (1/4 mile) and some do 5K! • It is a "family friendly" event - we encourage walkers to bring the whole family out for a fun morning of music, games, and refreshments. • Our 2007 Walk was held on September 15 and 206 Sponsored Walkers raised almost $80,000. • Our 2008 Walk For Life is scheduled to be held on October 11, and we plan to double the bottom line. Stay tuned for more information! 2007 Report and Photos 2008 Brochure, includimg Pledge Sheet
Clergy Appreciation Month • October is Clergy Appreciation Month and we host an event for local pastors where we seek to: • Express our appreciation for the important work that pastors do in our community • Provide a platform for clergymen to come together around the issue of life • Invite a pro-life speaker who will encourge, motivate, and challenge the local church to stay involved in the battle for life
Holiday Boutique • One of our most popular events with ladies is our Holiday Boutique. This event is open to the public • Vendors pay a fee to have a table where they can sell their wares • Guests pay an entrance fee at the door, and proceeds go to Hope • Additional funds are raised for Hope through a raffle of gift baskets • Punch and cookies are served to guests while they shop • The 2008 Holiday Boutique is scheduled for Friday, November 21 at The Signature Grand in Davie - flyer/invitation will be posted soon Sanctity of Human Life Sunday • In January of every year, we encourage local churches to observe Sanctity of of Human Life Sunday. To help facilitate this, we offer • A bulletin insert • Baby bottles that can be distributed to raise funds for Hope • Qualified speakers to talk about Hope Women's Centers and the work we are doing in our community See 2008 Bulletin Insert
Spring Fundraising Banquet • This gala event is one of the premier social events in the Christian community. It is an important event for many reasons: • It provides almost one-third of our annual operating budget • It involves wonderful participation from our community • It provides a showcase of our clients and a venue for celebrating life 2008 Report and Photos
Volunteer Appreciation Month • April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and we always host a special celebration for our volunteers. Because people are busy, we try to accomplish three things: • We bless our volunteers and let them know they are loved • We encourage them to get to know one another and mingle with our board and staff • We provide an educational perspective by inviting someone to speak on a topic of general interest to all volunteers See the flyer from our April 28 Volunteer Appreciaton Event
Change For Life - Baby Bottle Campaign • Traditionally, our Baby Bottle Fundraising Campaign kicked off on Mother's Day and ended on Father's Day. Members of participating churches take a baby bottle home with them and return it to the church on the specified date, filled with coins, cash, or checks. This has become a year-round fundraising tool and works for several reasons: • Churches can time the campaign to fit their schedule, missions emphases or tailor it to special groups (i.e. women's ministry, youth, VBS) • It is not taking money from the church income budget; people are just putting their leftover change at the end of the day in the bottle instead of at the bottom of their purses or on their dresser! • Little becomes much when it is yielded to the Master's touch! Last year over $20,000 was raised from the Baby Bottle Campaign! How To Run A Baby Bottle Campaign In Your Church
