Akeila & Tahir’s Story

When I got pregnant, I was engaged and an active member of my church. Part of me was in disbelief. The fear of not being accepted by my church was the most challenging thing.

I will never forget the woman who spoke with when I went to Hope. She prayed with me. As we know Christianity is a journey and sometimes the road can be lonely. My patient advocate was just the friend I needed at that time.

I was feeling condemned but the staff at Hope Women’s Centers helped reassure me of the word. I believe those prayers kept me. I lost my fiancé when I was seven months pregnant. I believe if it were for Hope Women’s Centers reminding me that I am a child of God, I wouldn’t still be here today.
