The rain poured down so hard that her visibility was hindered. She tripped over a tree root trying to hurry to the light she spotted glowing through the woods. Her body was shaking from the dropping temperature – the cold front the weatherman mentioned earlier that week was making its arrival.
Suddenly, a loud roar of a wind drew her attention behind her. Immediately she started praying, but she had to keep moving. A crack of a lighting then split the tree just 50 yards from where she walked. Petrified she continued to walk toward the light.
The roar behind her was growing closer. Growing up in the mid-west, she knew that sound – a tornado. It was barreling up behind her. She didn’t know how much time she had left before she’d be sucked into the spiraling vortex. She also didn’t have time to figure that out.
Nearly succumbing to her exhaustion, she stumbled a few more feet reached the porch of this little house where she had seen the light. She pounded on the door with the little ounce of strength she had left. The door opened, and a young woman stood there startled at the sight. She froze for a second and then yelled for her husband’s help.
Rushing to the door, he immediately picked this woman up and carried her to the couch. Upon laying her down, the couple could clearly see this woman was with child.
The wife quickly went to make soup and tea. The husband quickly started a fire. This woman was in bad shape and desperately needed this couple’s help.
You may never find a woman on your porch drenched head to toe in rainwater and completely exhausted. You may never have to lift her up and bring her to your couch.
But what if this woman represents a woman in Broward County? You may be wondering what I mean. Let me explain.
What if the cold front blowing in this woman’s life is made up of financial issues, family issues, and trauma from bad relationships? What if the tornado breathing down this woman’s neck threatening to tear this woman’s life to shreds is actually abortion? What if through her darkest night, she spots a light. What if that refuge of a home is actually one of our centers? What if she finds someone to pick her up, and help feed her empty and longing soul?
This is our calling. Therefore, we exist to be a light in the darkness.
Reaching, assisting, and aiding these women is too big of a job for us to do all by ourselves. We need you behind us. It looks different for every person, but we cannot do what we do without you. My challenge to you is to ask God to help you know how to help these women DISCOVER God in their darkest nights.

We aim to be a voice for the voiceless. To take a stand for the women who are too broken and feel their situation too hopeless to defend themselves.
“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.” Colossians 1:13
Since God rescued us and made us ambassadors (2 Cor. 5:20) we must be involved in the rescue of others and it is our privilege to do so! God rescued us, time and time again. He rushes in when others ran out. Let us, the body of Christ in Broward County, be known as those who rush in.
