Giving Hope to Others

Updated: Apr 21, 2023

“When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” – Matthew 2:10-11

As a non-profit organization, it seems like we are always in need and that we are always asking people to give to us. We never apologize for asking, because we believe that what we are doing is vitally important, but being involved in the #church united movement that is taking place here in Broward County, we know there are other important needs to meet in our community as well.

For this reason, the staff at Hope Women’s Centers decided to do our own “mission outreach” during this holiday season. We know that homelessness is a huge problem in Broward County. We became aware of a ministry of First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach called The Lord’s Gift House that provides food and some of life’s basic necessities for people in need. We decided that our Christmas project would be to help them.

Our staff of 17 women provided 17 large shopping bags full of groceries, toys, blankets, and other basic needs! We experienced the joy that Jesus promised  when he said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
